HARTIGAN - BARROW

Joan Barrow is looking for her father Sergeant
Henry Joseph (aka Richard) Hartigan a Canadian soldier
who was stationed in Littlehampton, West Sussex, England during WW2.
Joan doesn't know much about her father only that he was a school teacher in civilian life and was
from Montreal in Canada.
This photo was taken at Joan's christening at
St Catherine's Catholic Church, Littlehampton and shows Joan's mother
Sally Barrow and her father Sgt Henry Joseph (aka Richard) Hartigan.
-oOo-
My
mother Sally Barrow, lived in lodgings in Gloucester Place,
Littlehampton. Richard was by all accounts a decent chap who tried to help. I was
born May 11th 1943 and as you can see by the photo he attended my
christening. I believe he survived the war but I have no clue to
his regiment. My mother found things very hard and
abandoned me at the lodgings and I was brought up by a Mrs Hale, who
became my foster mother until I was 16 years old when I went to boarding
school. The photo's I have come from Mrs Rose Cooper's son Bertie. His
mother was a lovely lady sadly now dead but she spoke only good of my
father.
A young Joan I
survived very well and have had a happy and successful career, now
retired. I would so much love to find out more about my father
Sgt Henry Joseph (aka Richard) Hartigan. I have no wish to
cause any distress to any relatives or indeed to him but my children and
grand-children are interested in their ancestry. If you
feel that you can help Joan contact her Canadian family please

you. Page No 71523 |
